How did the farmer find his lost wife? Well, he tractor down…DUH. 😆🚜
Farmers are such an important part of our economy…and our world! 🌎 The Keystone State’s got some bragging rights in the farm preservation department and they’re well deserved. Let’s dig into the details. 👇
Here’s Five Fast Facts on how PA’s protecting farmland:
- 🔒 Preservation Station - This month, PA hit a historical farm-related milestone. The state proudly preserves over 6,600 farms and 650,000 acres of farmland across the Keystone State. The biggest brag? That’s more than any other state in the US.
- 🧑🌾 Hay There - PA recently invested over $140M in 472 new farms and 39,273 acres...and there’s more where that came from. In mid-October, Pennsylvania put up another $5.7M for 24 additional farms across 14 counties.
- 🌽 Safety Dance - Pennsylvanians take their farmland seriously. Back in 1988, the state’s Farmland Preservation Program hit the scene with overwhelming voter approval. The goal of the program is to guarantee a future food supply, keep the economy healthy, and protect prime farmland for years to come.
- 💰 Barnyard Billions - Since the Farmland Preservation Program started, over a whopping $1.78B (yes, billion with a B) has been invested. All those dollars keep PA farms safe from being swallowed by development.
- 🐄 Farm to Table - How important is farming for the PA economy? Pretty dang important. Agriculture contributes an impressive $132B each year and supports roughly 600,000 jobs.
🔥Bottom line: In other PA news, the state’s got a pretty significant judicial line item on the upcoming ballot. You’ll get to vote “yes” or “no” on whether or not three Supreme Court judges keep their seats. Before you head to the polls, mosey on over to this article for everything you need to know.
