Abbott Labs to Build New Baby Formula Factory in Ohio

Hey, remember that baby formula shortage?👶🏻🍼 We sure do, but hungry babies and panicked mamas have no fear! A spankin' new formula production facility is coming to an Ohio near you. 🏭

Pharma giant Abbott Laboratories recently announced their plans to build a brand new powder-formula factory in the Buckeye State. The company has a long history with Ohio, as formula production in Columbus dates back to the early 1900's. 🤓

Here’s Five Fast Facts about the new plant:

1. 🧾💵 What's the Damage? - Abbott Labs says the project will cost an estimated total of $536 million.

2. 💼 Takin' Care of Business - The new factory will also create 450 permanent jobs and improve the baby formula supply chain across the United States.

3. 👷🔨 Groundbreaking Developments - Construction crews are scheduled to break ground in 2023 and the building should be ready by 2026. 

4. 😖 Bad Memories - Earlier this year, Abbott was forced to temporarily shut down its Sturgis, Michigan plant. This was a major factor in the recent formula shortage fiasco.
   
   
5. 🎳 Bowling for Baby Formula - The new facility will be built in Bowling Green. Abbott says the factory will specialize in the production of "specialty and metabolic powder nutritional products".
