Nebraska’s Economy Roars

Did you know that despite the inflation and higher cost of, well, everything, the economy of Nebraska is speeding forward with (proverbial) guns blazing?!?!?

It's true!!!

Here are Five Fast Facts on Nebraska’s roaring economy:

  1. 📈Record-Breaking Employment! The state’s employment number was 1,042,762 in May. That makes 11 straight months of record employment! That’s a record even Tom Osborne would be envious of.
  2. 🏆Nation-Leading Participation! Nebraska’s labor force participation rate (the amount of the state’s population that is actively working) is 70%. That is the best rate in the nation. I guess Nebraskans really want to get out there and work!
  3. 🏆Nation-Leading Unemployment! The unemployment rate continues to lead the nation at 1.9%. It’s the lowest rate in both state and national history. It’s not every day you can say you’re the best at anything in history! #beentheredonethat
  4. 💰💰💰How’s The Tax Sitch? Incoming taxes for May were over $52 million above the forecast. That means the state should have over $1.8 billion in cash reserves by the end of fiscal year 2023. Counterintuitive? Yes. Undeniable? Also, yes.
  5. ✂️What’s The Follow Up? Gov. Pete Ricketts is intending to double down on this year’s tax relief efforts with even more tax cuts in 2023. Someone get Gov. Ricketts a new mic - I’m pretty sure he just dropped his.

🔥Bottom line: Nebraska may not be as sexy as some places, but there’s a ton of business growth and the economic health of the state is fantastic, and that’s great for Paychecks. In fact, it’s one of the best in the nation for income after adjusting for the cost of living. If you want to work and make a good living, it’s absolutely a place you should check out. Actual roaring is optional, but the state’s checkbook speaks for itself.
